Workshop
Description
Circle
of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is a personal development series
for girls ages 8-14 designed to encourage self-discovery
and skill building in five core areas:
- Positive self-image
- Healthy friendships
- Conflict resolution and communication
- Emotional strength
- Stress management
Participants
meet weekly in a supportive, fun, small group environment
led by licensed professional counselor, Susan Fee.
A variety of learning methods are used including:
- Discussion and sharing
- Modeling and practicing
of skills
- Peer interaction
- Games and activities
Parental
Involvement
At
the end of each class, parents and/or guardians are invited
to join the girls as they share what they have learned.
Adults will receive additional written material explaining
each week's lessons and ideas for at-home support.
Who
Should Sign Up?
Girls
interested in learning how to be their personal best and
handle any situation with confidence will benefit.
At
some point, most girls have experienced shyness, difficulty
with friends, fluctuating self-esteem, concern about fitting
in, and doubts about appearance. Sharing these stories helps
girls normalize their experiences rather than assume they
have a "problem." Participants learn to
celebrate who they are, stand up for themselves in difficult
situations, and make positive choices.
